Rising Stars in Choices Reading ELA 5...Shining in Interval 4

rising-stars

Over the past ten weeks, students in Choices Reading class have shown a ton of grit and improvement.  I am exceptionally proud of some specific students for putting in the work during interval four.  Their diligence, determination, and effort has resulted in some serious gains in their reading average.  Please celebrate the awesome improvements of the following Kippsters listed below.  As their English teacher leader, I am very proud of each of them.

Le Moyne Dolphins: Jasmyn G. (+8%), Maiasia T. (+9%), Evelyne J. (+10%), Devadre P. (+10%), & TyRiek L. (+13%)

St. Rose Golden Knights: Hafsa A. (+9%), Zhariyah S. (+12%), Elijah M. (+13%), Markel D. (+14%)

Oswego Lakers: Jada M. (+14%), Tamel G. (+19%), Ciara W. (+20%)

Again, congratulations and as the great Micheal Jordan once said, "I have always believed, that when you put in the work, results will come." (MJ#23)

More than a Game: Tyriek & Mr. Jason go 1 on1

tyriek

This morning was a huge deal for TyRiek in Le Moyne College! This dolphin has made great improvements in his attitude and effort over the past few weeks here at KIPP Tech Valley.  At KIPP we always talk about, "It is not about where you are coming from, but about where you are going."  TyrRiek earned a game of basketball with me, his homeroom teacher.  He earned this by earning his shirt and improving his grades.  So we got to play 1 on 1!  This picture says it all! This was much more than a simple game of basketball! It has inspired TyRiek to focus on his self-control, better himself with his academic progress, and has solidified a great relationship between student and teacher. I have never see a kid more excited or smile more!! Just awesome! Kippsters, "When you make good choices, good things happen."  I am very proud of you TyRiek!  -Mr. Jason
